Do you use Microsoft MSN Messenger for chatting? If so, you probably had an email from them recently about the new version, complete with a new End User License Agreement (EULA). Did you read it all? Thought not.
Well if you had, you might have noticed that by agreeing to it, you also agree that not only can M$ upgrade the software at their convenience not yours, but also that they can charge you for the upgrade and you have already agreed to pay whatever they decide to charge! Now that really is sneaky, hiding something like that in the fine print that most people never read.
There is some more info in this Enquirer article, including the actual wording from the EULA. You might want to consider this carefuly before you agree to use Instant Messenger again, especially as there are free alyernatives [Trillian for Windows: GAIM for linux] that have none of these crazy stipulations. Remember, you were warned.

Chopping Block is a beautifully drawn daily comic with a very black sense of humour behind it. I really liked this one and this one, and there seem to be hundreds more to browse through. Be forewarned though, some people might find the humour a bit sort of sick and offensive. Your call.

Eigenradio plays only the most important frequencies, only the beats with the highest entropy. If you took a bunch of music and asked it, "Music, what are you, really?" you'd hear Eigenradio singing back at you.
This is weird. Truly, deeply, fundamentally odd. And I can't stop listening to it.

This Gender Test claims to figure out if you're a boy or a girl by asking you 50 questions, none of which involve your genitalia, name etc. It's a bit long winded, but if you have the time, why not. Oh, and it got me right (but when all is said and done there's only two choices, right?) Ideal if you just want something to click on.

Wave your mouse about and click on stuff in the Boohbah Zone and things will happen. That's all I'm prepared to guess at. I've no idea what is going on, or indeed why it's there in the first place, but it is great fun. Please note that you will need a flash player installed, and sound really adds that certain something. Go knock yourself out.

This one is either for those of us with a broadband connection, or really patient people. It's a page of photographs from a high-altitude balloon flight, with one camera pointing down, and another sideways. Calculations put the altitude of the highest picture at 85,945 feet, and there is one image every two minutes, all the way up. Fascinating stuff, but in a way it's a shame all the pics are on one big page; it makes it harder (or at the very least more annoying) for modem users.

This one is really spreading like wildfire if the hits my firewall is taking from infected machines are anything to go by, so be warned.

I'm not sure if anyone is actually reading this, but if you are out there, the odds are good that you are using a Windows-based machine. If so, you need to read this article about a new and potentially very annoying worm that is on the loose. If not, good on you - now go check and make sure your mail server is buttoned up tight!
